Research in Dallas County
and North Texas

Research done at genealogical libraries, cemeteries and courthouses.

Research per hour - $20.00

Postage, parking, photocopies and vital record fees will be billed at cost.  At Dallas library the photocopies are 15 cents per copy and 25 cents per microfilm copy.  For trips outside of Dallas County, there is a mileage fee.

Minimum retainer of $60.00 (3 hours) is requested.  Add to the minimum retainer, at the rate of $20.00 / hr., the cost of any additional hours that you authorize me to spend on your family search or write down the number of extra hours you are willing to cover.

When the research is completed, you will receive a statement summarizing the charges against the retainer and a documented report of the research results, including all sources checked, photocopies, and possible recommendations for further areas to explore.  There is no refund for negative results.

Photographs of gravemarkers, if requested, will be at an additional charge.

The genealogy department at downtown Dallas library has a very large collection with many books on Texas counties.  It is recommended that research be done there before making a trip out of Dallas because available sources could provide the needed answers.  Censuses are available for all states from 1790 to 1930 with soundex.  Their collection of military- related records consists of service records, pensions, bounty-land applications and indexes.  Also, available on microfilm / fiche are Texas' state-wide indexes to births (1903+), marriages (1966+), divorces (1968+) and deaths (1903+), early tax lists for Texas counties, and a complete collection of Texas Confederate pension records.  They also have microfilms of early Texas death records (1903 to 1976) that are listed on the state-wide index.

The Archives Division has Dallas newspapers (1855 to present) along with some of Fort Worth's, Houston's and few other Texas cities / towns' newspapers; Dallas city directories and phone books (1873 to present), Dallas County probate records on microfilm (1846-1900), county marriage records index and many others.

I am available for research in the counties of Bosque, Collin, Cooke, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Henderson, Hill, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Parker, Rains, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant, Van Zandt and Wise, and also in south-central Oklahoma.

Payment may be sent via personal check, money order or PayPal.  Contact me for more information with an outline of your research needs.  I have been doing genealogy research since 1975 and as a professional researcher since 1990.
