The Allens moved from Botetourt Co., VA to Bowman's Station in Mercer Co., KY in the fall of 1779.  In 1780, William received a land grant of 400 acres.  They sold this land in parcels and bought land in Barren Co., KY area in 1797 where William and Martha spent the rest of their lives.  The names of their children were obtained from the probate record of their son James.
